National Start Your Own Country Day

Apparently, as well as Thanksgiving today is National Start Your Own Country Day.  Let’s take a moment to bask in the irony that is the term “national” in that title.

That being done, I officially declare that the title of my country is “Bunburria.” (Visitor visas available for those who know what that refers to.)

Official animal: Panther with dragon wings and fire-breathing ability-a Dranther

Official flower: Iris

Official motto: “Not every mist is obscuring.”

Official Flag: Lavender background with a gold-and-red winged Dranther breathing fire and surrounded by black swirls of smoke and symbols of the four elements in each corner

Known for: slippers  There should be a variety of all kinds of slippers, with comfort for every temperature and floor/ground surface, and a full range of decoration.

Go forth and proclaim your own country!

I love your country’s name. Do you have a particular currency? I was debating coming up with something for that. In any case, I believe our countries could do excellent trade: no one can engage in mystic arts properly with uncomfortable feet. Specialized slippers for all! (Also, the mystics in Bunburria are more of a mystery cult, which is why it is not what they are ‘known for’. But trust me, there’s a reason our trade is so conducive to meditation and other spiritual journeying.)

I proclaim the country of Hugheston (sorry, I can’t resist). Official animal, mythical–Phoenix. Official Animal–Turtle. Official flower–Roses. Motto: The wound is the place where the light enters you–Rumi. Official Flag: stripes of pink, purple, and blue, with a silver-white silhouette of a phoenix rising, flanked by the silver-white silhouettes of two turtles. However, these silver white silhouettes are iridescent, and the turtles flash green and the phoenix flashes red, orange, and yellow as the flag waves in any light source. Known for: authors, comedians, and intuitive therapists. Also, having any kind of fruit at any season.

I love your flag! Also, I feel compelled to ask if “any kind of fruit” includes the Apples of Youth, apples with sleeping curses, golden apples, apples of knowledge, apples of immortality (from Narnia), and apples which proclaim their owner the most beautiful among the goddesses according to Paris?

also, I feel remiss not having lotuses as well as roses. They are all about rising from the muck. Also, “hands….like…..lotuses! and eyes…like….lotuses!”

HAAAA! You should totally go read the email I just sent you. Our minds are totally aligned in the Wyrd!

Also, Bunburrria totally has oxen that walk on their hind legs playing tambourines.

Holy Schnikes! I forgot to hit the notifimication of follow-up comments!
Those oxen get me every time. I don’t see how anybody can be sad in Bunburria, what with the comfy feet and the dancing oxen. And being hugged by fabulous friends on beds of lotuses and roses.
Any kind of fruit indeed includes those apple breeds, as well as pomegranites that determine how long you will stay by how many seeds you eat, and peaches that make you serene and add years to your life, and oranges sold by goblins. But the goblins wash their hands in Hugheston. We have strict health regulations. We also don’t punish people for eating apples of knowledge, either.
